We see relatively little of Vanessa, as she only appears in The Goes Wrong Show; all the Goes Wrong stage productions to date are set before Vanessa joins the drama society. However, I do still think we get a strong sense of her character from The Goes Wrong Show. Here's what I've picked up about Vanessa!
- Double-barrelled names are generally considered a bit posh, and triple-barrelled names presumably even more so. I suspect that Vanessa is privately educated and comes from a well-off upper-middle-class family.
- Not great with money, possibly in an 'easily taken advantage of because she's not sure how much things are worth and can therefore be persuaded to overpay' way. She has enough money to be able to afford to be a little bad with it, but not so much money that she doesn't have to worry about it at all; if she takes a financial hit, she's conscious of it.
- Lacks confidence and initiative, wants guidance in every situation. She needs the script to advise her on the stage; she needs a life coach to advise her off the stage.
- As a consequence, will panic if she's put in any situation where she needs to make quick decisions on the fly, e.g. improvisation. She can't do this; she needs a plan! At least give her time to weigh up all the factors!
- Vanessa's desperation to be told what to do creates an interesting dynamic with Robert, who loves telling people what to do. These two could have such a toxic relationship, and frankly I want to see it.
